Charlotte, North Carolina native and Under the Dome star Britt Robertson will star in the next movie adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, as The Longest Ride prepares to begin filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Robertson will play Sophia Danko, a college student who falls for a young cowboy in Sparks’ dual-romance saga, according to Deadline. Scott Eastwood (Texas Chainsaw 3D) was announced last week as the male lead, playing the role of the cowboy, Luke Collins, opposite Robertson.
George Tillman Jr. (Faster) will direct, with Craig Bolotin (Black Rain) adapting the screenplay.
Released in novel form in September 2013, the romantic drama tells two love stories, told simultaneously through the flashbacks of a 90-year-old man remembering the love he lost coinciding with with a young student falling in love with a wounded bull rider.
This will be the fourth Nicholas Sparks adaptation to be filmed in North Carolina, following A Walk to Remember in 2001, Nights in Rodanthe in 2007, and Safe Haven in 2012.
The Longest Ride begins in theaters on April 3, 2015.
